More watts let you unlock potato-powered technology, from the humble "Spudnik" to the "Probetato". SpacePlan's resource is wattage, built up by the satellites and probes circling the solar system. You're gathering resources in order to unlock progressively more powerful tools, which in turn increase your resource gathering capabilities. The game is a clicker through and through, and that means tapping on the screen countless times. If you were to judge SpacePlan purely at a gameplay level, you might be disappointed. While the gameplay is what you'd expect from a clicker, the surrounded mould makes for a uniquely enjoyable and humorous galactic journey. The ever increasing amounts are only a means to an end, like surreal new items or secret game mechanics unlocking, or a story unfolding. And that's about it.īut if you play the more interesting entries in the genre, such as the popular A Dark Room, Cookie Clicker, or Candy Box, you may see that the appeal isn't the numbers going up, but the why and the how. At its core, it can seem like an ephemeral thrill - tap, tap, tapping away, making numbers go up higher and higher. I have not played to many incremental games as I find the lack of strategy or skill required to play a little boring, though this game had me gripped with it’s story line and visuals. The clicking kept me engaged somewhat and the storyline and humour kept me playing.The clicker is an odd beast of a genre. I was not truly immersed in the game once my hands started hurting from clicking, though I guess that shows how into the game I was. I was intrigued by the story, though I found myself out of the game doing other things while waiting for power to build up to buy the next upgrade. This game took about 4 hours to complete. The clicking gives you the feel that you are involved in the game at all times.

This becomes less important as you progress until the next upgrade to the KinetiGen. This changes the gameplay a little and the player is found to be rapidly clicking to generate power. There are a few points where you can upgrade the amount of energy you get per click. The mechanics are quite simple, the more upgrades you have, the faster you will gain power. I can’t help feel that the author has been influenced by Douglas Adams. Humour is used in the storyline with the power largely being generated from potato’s. The game gives you the option to purchase upgrades with the power you generate to create power without clicking. Once the systems are online, you figure out that the graphic represents a ship orbiting a planet.
